Kids Korner

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

With the summer holidays already upon us, I’m a little late adding this section… Better late than never though (as my Nan used to say), so here it is - KingsWay KidZ KorRner!

I know we have many younger readers ‘though none have posted yet (big suprise when all us old fogies fill the site with moans and groans about car parking and groups of kids causing problems etc etc)! So I wanted to create a section to publicise events and activities for the younger residents of Kingsway Village.

So - if you’re under 20 and you want to contribute, ask questions or keep in touch with your local friends, please feel free to register and say “Hi”.

If you’d like to use the site for anything in particular, please post your suggestions and requests (as comments) here, and I’ll do my best to help out.

In the meantime, I’m “scouting about” for various activities and events for young people in Kingsway, and will add them asap.

Editors Note: The Kingsway Kidz Korner (”KKK”) has no affiliation with those sad, old racist nutters from the USA
I just thought we would use the acronym for something more mature!

The Green Cycle

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

Kingsway travel plan co-ordinator Sarah Fish is organising a Cycling Family Funday to celebrate European Mobility Week on Saturday 20th September.

Plans include a "free bike clinic" (for all ages), to help with minor mechanical problems and a demonstration of short and safe cycling routes (to local shops and Gloucester city).

The event is open - not only to Kingsway residents - but to anybody who wants to join in the fun, see Kingsway and help promote Kingsway’s “Green” Travel Plan.

The Positive Side

Saturday, July 19th, 2008

For the past few days I’ve been thinking about life and this estate, and more specifically this blog. I’ve come to a conclusion. The negatives about Kingsway get far more attention than the positives, and - although this is normal - I think a bit of balance may be a good idea.

So how about we take this opportunity to say everything we think is good about our new home?

Mine are:

  • My Neighbours are the best I have ever had the luck to live next to, and I really mean that.
  • The commuter routes are excellent. I work in Bath and get there in under an hour.
  • My house is ace. Big enough for my new family and very comfortable.
  • Local Amenities are within touching distance.

So what other positives do people have about Kingsway village?

And please, no negative comments; save them for elsewhere.

Cheers

BD

Noisy Dogs

Monday, July 14th, 2008

Does anyone else in Kingsway have issues with noisy dogs?

We live near Thatcham Avenue, and there is a dog (Some sort of Husky) that permanently seems to be left on his own and howling.

The other day I thought he was going to jump out of the bedroom window. The poor thing is obviously distressed at being left on his own all day, and I am very distressed by having to listen to it :(

Is there anything that can be done by law to make the owner train his/her dog to be quiet?
