Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Sunday, December 23rd, 2012 by Barry Kirby

It certainly has been an eventful 2012 and while there is still a long way to go, we have seen a tremendous transformation in Kingsway over the past 12 months. I hope that the next 12 months are just as fruitful

I just wanted to take the opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year :)

Cheers,
Barry

My Thanks

Saturday, November 17th, 2012 by Barry Kirby

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who been in touch with many kind words after the AGM on Wednesday.

I have really enjoyed working with so many people who were keen to improve the area in which we live and I do want to reassure people though, both of the new committee and all residents, that I am still here to help and work for Kingsway.

I am still committed to my values of Community and will continue to work hard for where we live, just in different ways.

Cheers,
Barry

Kingsway RA Noticeboard Website

Wednesday, November 7th, 2012 by Barry Kirby

Hi All,

To keep things like notices and events to hand, as well as common information, we have developed a new Residents Association specific website.

It is at www.KingswayRA.co.uk.

Let us know what else should go on there and your feedback.

Cheers,
Barry

Hi All,

Just to clarify: This website will continue to display information related to the Kingsway Residents Association and will still host discussions, surveys and consultations as well as posting information about events etc, but the new website will be dedicated to the Residents Association alone, and as such will be much easier to maintain and update, particularly in the event that I stand down from the RA in the future, (although I am standing again next year - despite my terrible attendance record this year due to my wife’s continued illness), or in case I decide to discontinue this website at some point.

In any case, a Residents-Association-specific website, controlled exclusively by the RA, is the correct solution for the future of both the RA and Kingsway residents.

Cheers,
Clive

2012 AGM Nominations Closed (KRA)

Thursday, November 1st, 2012 by Barry Kirby

Hi All,

Thank you all for your nominations to the Residents Association Committee. Nominations closed last night and the new committee will be introduced at the AGM on the 14th November - 7pm at the School.

Those who nominated themselves will receive an email to introduce each other and to get preliminary issues sorted out.

We will also have the head of the New School as our Guest speaker as well as the Police and QUVL to discuss current issues.

We will be reviewing the activities of the KRA over the past year and, as always, be open to your questions, comments and requests.

Afterwards we aim to retire to the Barn Owl.

Hope to see you there.

Cheers,
Barry

New Cam and Dursley Bus Service

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2012 by Barry Kirby

Hi All,

I have just received an email from RSL Highways & Transportation about a new Bus Service to Cam and Dursley Station, to link with the rail servies to Yate, Filton Abbey Wood and Bristol.

As you may recall this is something that residents wanted from when we had the County Council Public Transport Manager attend one of our public meetings, so it’s fantastic that it has now become a reality. For more information please look at the Kingsway Travel Hub website.

I have a PDF version of the timetable which I will try to distribute.

Cheers,
Barry

Access to the Kingsway Community Centre

Friday, October 12th, 2012 by Barry Kirby

Hi all,

Because of the work required to finish the Naas Lane-Woodvale link, the following note from QUVL details the changes to access to the Community Centre that have been put in place:

QUVL are currently preparing the road between Woodvale and Naas Lane for final surfacing etc, and consequently have to close off the entrance bellmouth that has been used by Pullmans Haulage and for accessing the Community Centre for the past year or so.

As from 16 October 2012, the access to the Community Centre will be from Rudloe Drive. No access will be available from the road north of Naas Lane. We are installing signage to help people identify this route.

This access will be shared with the haulage company, and users of the centre should be aware of heavy goods vehicle moving in this area. We have introduced additional give way provisions and have met with Pullmans Haulage who will reinforce the message that this is a shared access with their drivers.

Cheers,
Barry
