Kingsway Community Litter Pick: 2pm Saturday 20th April

Wednesday, April 3rd, 2013 by JoeL

Hi,

A Community Litter Pick will take place on Saturday 20th April starting at 2PM outside Kingsway Primary School. All equipment will be provided and anyone under 18 will need to be supervised by a Parent or Guardian.

As a Community we have commented on the litter situation in some areas and this is our chance to do something to brighten up the village.

Kingsway Residents’ Association will be joined by the local Pumas and Gloucester Probation Trust along with our local MP, Richard Graham. We are expecting newspaper and radio coverage of the event and this is your chance to be part of a Kingsway ‘good news story’, so why not join us to help make Kingsway a better place to live?

We hope to see you there,

Regards,
Joe

Any Budding TV stars Out There?

Wednesday, February 27th, 2013 by JoeL

Hi,

The Residents’ Association has received this email asking if any villagers might be interested in taking part in this project.

From: [email protected]

Hi there,

My name is Bekah and I work at a TV production company in Leeds. I wasn’t sure if you or your members might be interested, but I thought it might be worth a try.

My company is working on a new series for Channel 4 called ‘Compare Your Life’. We’re still in the casting stages and we’re looking for couples or families who are wanting to buy a business and preferably relocate. If this is something you think your members might be interested in, would you mind just passing along the word?

I’ll include a link to explain a bit more about the show, but if you do have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Thanks so much!
Bekah

Kingsway Residents Association Public Meeting 20/3/13

Wednesday, February 20th, 2013 by JoeL

The next KRA Public Meeting will be held on Wednesday 20 March at 7pm in Kingsway Primary School.

As well as an update on our activities, we are proposing two changes to the constitution: Firstly an increase in the size of the committee from ten to twelve, and secondly to hold three public meetings per year.

Additionally there will be speakers from the local Police, ReachOut Youth project, QUVL and Environment Agency.

We hope to see you there.

Kingsway Residents Association - Committee Members Wanted!

Thursday, January 31st, 2013 by JoeL

At the AGM we did not manage to get the 10 members needed to fill all of the positions available on the committee and unfortunately 2 members have recently resigned.

While our constituted primary purpose of identifying local needs, representing villagers’ views and engaging with outside agencies will still be achieved with reduced committee numbers, we also aim to stage community events and it is events such as ‘The Big Lunch’ that may not be possible without your support.

If you can spare one night a month for committee meetings, and maybe a few hours in between, then please contact us at [email protected]

We look forward to hearing from you.

Adoptions and Street Lighting

Saturday, January 26th, 2013 by JoeL

Hi Everyone,

You will be pleased to hear that the City Council has finally started adopting parts of Kingsway with Leeming Walk being the first and other areas to follow shortly… I hope!

As we are all aware there are a number of street lights that don’t work, but how do we report them and to whom?

Until adoption any lights on open spaces or the bus route are the responsibility of QUVL and defects should be reported to them using the procedure detailed on our Kingsway Developers page.

All other areas are the responsibility of the house builder in that street and should be reported to them (contact details are here), and in both cases identifying the lamp post by using the nearest house number would be useful.

If you do not get a satisfactory response within a suitable time then let us know at [email protected] and we’ll see what KRA can do to help on this, or any other matter.

Regards,
Joe
KRA Chairman
