Adoption of Roads: Holbeach Drive

Monday, October 10th, 2016

Hi All,

We’re looking to move to the area, and as part of a local search result its become apparent that Holbeach Drive is neither adopted, nor has a Section 38 in place to secure future adoption. Considering the age of the area (now close to 10 years) we were surprised by this.

Reading the forum there appear to be some posts from a few (5+!) years ago when it appears the challenge around adoption was due to Severn Trent having issues adopting the balancing ponds so they could take ownership of the drainage. It does appear however that Gloucester City Council agreed to take ownership of the balancing ponds, and as such the criteria for road adoption was met.

Does anyone know what the current status is with regards this?

Thanks in advance !

    Hi Marie,

My apologies for the delayed reply; I have an update on the conversation with Gareth but am awaiting his permission to publish as it includes information from his personal emails.

I’m not sure of the current situation re Marham Drive, but the roads will certainly be adopted… eventually!
Your developer should be able to tell you the current situation.

At a recent meeting between the QUVL (developers) and other interested parties, the following update was given:

General discussion about processes behind adoptions and the timescales involved.
Frustrations are well understood and the main agencies continue to expedite matters as quickly as possible.
Joann Menaud will arrange for Meyrick Brentnall to speak to Richard Cook regarding green space adoptions.
Andy Smith (QUVL) had provided an email update on adoptions – more info’ on the next phase was requested by Richard Cook. Richard agreed to speak to Andy about circulating an updated map.

The full minutes are here .
(All minutes are available from our Kingsway Developers page).

I heard (today) that Joe Logan (Kingsway RA Chair) will give an update on local adoptions at our AGM (to be held on November 23rd at the Community Centre), so feel free to come along and asking about Marham Drive. I’m not sure if the updated map will be received in time, but there should be plenty of expert help available. 🙂

I’ve been asked this question about secondary roads from a colleague wanting to move to Kingsway!
Are the roads going to be adopted?
I live in Marham Drive and have done for 8 years; is this road adopted or not as some house sales keep failing?
If it’s not adopted are there any plans in place to adopt the secondary roads or is this something that I need to make the residents of Marham Drive aware off, as we will be responsible for the upkeep? Really not sure what the position is!
    Some advice would be appreciated.

    Marie

    Hi Gareth,

Apologies for the tardy reply; I spent most of last week in bed ill! 🙁

Joe Logan (KRA Chair) tells me you asked about this via an Email to the KRA and he has responded already.

If you need any more info’, don’t hesitate to ask 🙂

    Regards,
    Clive

    Hi Gareth,

Following the balancing ponds and drainage, the next step in the process was open spaces and green areas, then main roads and bus routes. Each stage had it’s own issues and delays, but we are finally at the stage where adoptions of secondary roads and individual developers parcels are beginning to filter through.

I’m not certain of the exact current position of Holbeach Drive, but I will find out and let you know.

    Regards,
    Clive
