HGV Traffic (Asda)

Monday, February 24th, 2014 by JoeL

Hi,

There have been a number of comments regarding HGV traffic going to Asda and having spoken to the Council, I can confirm Asda delivery lorries lorries are not allowed to enter or leave Kingsway using the A38 traffic lights, as the planning consent directs them to enter via Waterwells. Also they should not be parking on Newhaven Road for other than a short period while the loading yard gates are opened.

The Council have asked that any instances of lorries using the wrong route or parking on Newhaven Road, especially parking on the verge, should be reported to [email protected], with times, registration numbers and preferably photographs.

Regards,
Joe

Kingsway Carols 2013

Friday, January 31st, 2014 by Clive

Kingsway Carols - 2013On 21st and 22nd December 2013, the Residents Association - in conjunction with Asda and Tesco Express, arranged for four charity carol singing events to take place in Kingsway, to raise money for Gloucester Royal Hospital’s Children’s Ward… (more info’).

Asda also offered to add gifts collected as a part of their Give A Gift campaign to the donation.

Tesco Express also sold raffle tickets to shoppers to bolster donations, as well as donating the prizes and giving away sweets and mince pies over the weekend.

Kingsway Carols - 2013We were lucky enough to get several sponsors to donate towards the fund: Miller Homes, Guinness Hermitage Housing Group, Oxbode Housing (GreenSquare Group), Asda (Quedgeley) and Tesco Express (Kingsway).

Numerous local children joined the choir, along with various members of the KRA.

Richard Graham MP, Cllr: Fred Wood and Conservative candidate Dave Norman also took part in the event.

L to R: Cllr: Fred Wood, Santa, Vicky (Tesco Express manager)

The total raised (£811.30 plus the gifts from Asda), was presented to Hospital Play Specialists Liz Cubbins and Louise Danter, at the hospital, on Wednesday 22nd January:

Jo Harvey (Lead Nurse / Modern Matron for Paediatric Inpatients and Outpatient Department at GRH Children’s Ward) said:

“On behalf of the Directorate of Children’s Services, and especially all the children on the Paediatric Unit at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, we would like to thank you for taking the time to visit us and for your extremely generous cheque for £811.30.

I understand that your Association raised this money by organising carol singing events around Gloucester prior to Christmas. This is a fantastic sum of money for you to have raised and I am sure that you must all have worked extremely hard organising these events. I would, therefore, be grateful if you could pass on our thanks to all those members who participated.

Once again, thank you so much for thinking of the babies and children who spend time with us – it was very kind of you.”

Steve Brooks (KRA) said:

“Kingsway Residents Association’ would like to take this opportunity toward thanking all those who took part in the event - along with those within our community who made donations for such a worthy cause - raising £811.30, and gifts for the children of: Gloucester Royal Hospital’s Foundation Trust Children’s Ward.”

Merry Christmas Kingsway

Tuesday, December 24th, 2013 by Clive

It’s that time of year again…

2013 has been another eventful year for Kingsway. The link road to Naas Lane is finally open, adoptions have started in earnest, Asda have built a new local supermarket and we have a second local primary school.

2014 is likely to be another very busy year, with many new projects due to begin soon including the second shopping area, a place of worship, community centre, sports facilities and more.

Once again the Kingsway Residents Association has organised several local events and will continue with the same during 2014.

On behalf of the Residents Association committee, my wife, my family and myself, I’d like to wish all our residents (neighbours) and local friends a…

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Kingsway Development Plan

Thursday, November 21st, 2013 by Clive

During the KRA Committee Meeting of 29th October 2013 we were given the latest copy of the “Plans for the future of Kingsway and details on the adoption plan”.

The document was pretty big (5mb) so I said I would “look at the possibility of reducing the documents in size and uploading to the Blog”.

Because of the nature of the document that is not really possible, so I’ve enlisted the help of those helpful folks at Mediafire and uploaded it there for those who wish to view it.

This copy of the plan will be updated periodically, so I’ve added a link to it from our Kingsway Developers page.
