Brize Avenue Parking

Wednesday, October 23rd, 2013 by Kerry

Can I say that this is an accident waiting to happen, the parking is not acceptable it is like a slalom course, and waiting for a serious accident!

The first corner that you come to on Brize Avenue is constantly full of parked cars which makes this corner blind and sometimes impassable; there will be a serious accident before long, because it does not matter which side you are coming from you just cannot see what is coming, or how fast! Because of the way the cars are parked, emergency vehicles would have no chance of getting through!
All these houses have allocated parking, why not use it?

Surely something can be done, more houses are now being built in this area and the parking is only going to get worse.

Naas Lane Link Road - Adoption

Monday, August 19th, 2013 by QUVL Project Manager

The road between Naas Lane and Kingsway is now adopted by the County Council.

This follows the adoption of Leeming Walk by the County in January and should shortly be followed by Woodvale and Valley Gardens.

Could we remind the residents that as a public highway, offences committed on the adopted roads will have penalties enforceable by the Police and Local Authority.

Please watch your speed throughout the estate and particularly on the Naas Lane Link Road which does serve local businesses and day nurseries etc.

Regards,
Andy

Up The Junction(s)

Monday, June 10th, 2013 by flumper

There was a letter sent into Quedgeley News this month about the chicanes on the new Naas Lane - Woodvale Link road, suggesting it was dangerous….

Now is it just me, but they worked before they put the white lines down, where priority was the other way, giving way before the chicane (with it on the same side of the road), which is how it works down Thatcham Avenue and School Lane. Could it be possible they have incorrectly marked up the road and simply changed signs to suit? As I have to agree, it doesn’t work having to move over onto the wrong side of the road, which oncoming traffic and not 100% sure as to whether they are going to give way?

Marham Drive - Parking

Sunday, May 26th, 2013 by SSTAR

I am getting fed up with the cars which keep parking on the entrance to Marham Drive. This morning there were 4 cars parked there, one being a white Mini which was completely obstructing the view.

It’s getting beyond a joke, no thought for other road users or pedestrians using the footpath. The double yellow lines should have been continued around into Marham Drive. Who can we contact to get this sorted out before an accident happens?

Kingsway Speedwatch

Thursday, April 4th, 2013 by Barry Kirby

The Kingsway Speedwatch group is now up and running, with Sarah Jones and myself trained to use the equipment. We will be running ops over the next couple of weeks, looking at the main routes of Rudloe Drive, Woodvale, Valley Gardens and Thatcham Avenue.

If you want to find out more or get involved as part of the team then please do get in touch. My number is 07951330534 or email me at [email protected], it would be great to have your support. We have also set up a Facebook group here, so do keep an eye on that for updates too.

Cheers,
Barry

Marham Drive - Grass Strip

Tuesday, February 12th, 2013 by PotatoPete

Does anybody know who is the best person to contact about sorting out the ruined grass strip within the entrance of Marham Drive? I have contacted [email protected] twice, but had no reply and am wondering if this is the correct contact for the following problem:

(For the record I am not starting a parking flame war here, but I am sure it will develop into it! Regardless to say this problem has been caused by people from Thatcham Avenue parking here. Also people living by the Primary School, a long way from their homes have been parking here - I know this from approaching them. If you wish and without naming names, I could list all the people who park here for your interest).

So the problem; the grass strip within the entrance of Marham Drive is a total mess. The Grass has been churned up into a mud patch, which is being washed down the road, making it look unsightly. Because of cars parking here, the level of the grass / mud has also been squashed down to a considerable depth below the top of the kerb, which is now retaining muddy water. Resulting in both a dangerous trip hazard to pedestrians and a huge pot-hole for vehicles. Yesterday I saw one car bounce quite violently up and down whilst driving over the pot-hole, this happened because another car was parked opposite and thus forced them onto the grass mess. Another car was going to park on the grass, then decided to go elsewhere within Marham because of the mud! Thus driving a nice tyre-width mud line all down the road.

I have also noticed that this is starting to happen to the other grass strip a bit further in and opposite the sub-station - an absolute mess.

What with the rubbish left over from the refuse and recycling collection (which I am constantly picking up). The whole entrance looks a right state and it’s no wonder that Kingsway gets a bad reputation from the press because of this mess.

It looks bad, is dangerous and needs to be sorted out, but bollards (like those added to Mildenhall) won’t be suitable here, ‘though there are a few other options I know of that may work.
