Road Surfacing on Linton Ave
Created by not a happy boyHi,
Please can somebody at QUVL or whoever is responsible for this work being undertaken, tell me why it is taking so long to raise the iron works and prepare the kerbs for the final course? (Nearly 2 months so far)!
I have lived here for nearly 4 years and I understand Taylor Wimpey left this road in a terrible state, as well as the junctions from Thatcham Ave and into Boddington Drive being constructed so narrow and tight they are downright dangerous, but the way this road is being left daily by the contractor is horrendous. You barely have enough room to go by the barriers and signs or drive over the raised ironworks without risking damage to your vehicle and when another vehicle is oncoming you can get a stalemate of who has right of way. Basically I understand this work is essential and have wanted it to be done ever since I have lived here due to the disgusting state it was left in by Taylor Wimpey, but as an ex ground-worker I know to take this long is downright unacceptable.
Does anyone else agree?

Hi nahb,
Yes the road is appalling and has been that way for a ridiculous amount of time. It’s one of the most common complaints, raised regularly at meetings and the last discussion was during the July meeting of the Residents Association when Joe Logan (Chairman) reported:
Unfortunately we’ve not had much contact with Andy Smith (QUVL) in recent months (he has been very busy), but I would guess that (aside from Taylor Wimpey) he’s the most likely source of up to date information on this subject.
Contact Numbers:
Taylor Wimpey: 01452 523228 or 01454 323540
Andy Smith (QUVL): 01179 016358. (If you can’t contact him on there, you can call 396396 and ask the City Council to contact him on your behalf).

I completely agree, living in Dishforth Drive it is like driving through an assault course from one day to the other.

Apparently this is being surfaced this Friday 10th October.

Thanks Paul,
I’m not holding my breath but I do hope they get it done

It will be.

Sat 11th October. The day after the resurfacing was supposed to have been done; having driven ’round both ends of Linton Avenue and caught the underside of my car on one of the ridiculously high tarmac ramps!
Surprise surprise, nothing has been done!
TAYLOR WIMPEY should be billed for the damage they are causing to people’s cars and the inconvenience in general this has caused.
I am angry and disgusted.

Just chasing for an update …

Apparently : “The work are programmed to take four days, being completed on Thursday.
Obviously, if there are heavy down pours tarmac can not be laid, resulting in the completion being put back.”

LOL, Autumn is well know for wet weather, so why wasn’t the work planned for the summer months? Smacks of incompetency to me or a delaying tactic.

I was under the impression that TW believed it had been completed…..

Barker 77 thanks for the info but TW really need to see who they are contracting their work out to it seems. They could have checked themselves if the work had been completed as agreed. No excuses in my eyes from TW- trying to deflect the responsibility.

I hear it’s been done now… (Will check it out in the next day or two).
