Trolleys and Recyling Bins
Hi
Just a couple of points I was hoping someone could raise as I’m not sure what else to about it.
1. The Tesco trolleys that seem to setting up home across Kingsway, particularly in Leeming Walk; I have phoned the lost trolley hotline number quoted on the trolleys (puts you through to Tesco’s customer service centre) 4 times now but the number of trolleys just keeps on going up!
Surely Tesco should be able to send someone for a regular walk round Kingsway to pick up their property before we get more like the smashed up one in the park a while back?
Perhaps with all the work that is going to be going on there soon they could look at putting barriers in to prevent trolleys being "borrowed".
2. Green Recycling boxes: We only got our box because I phoned the Council and asked for one.
Apparently when Wimpey requested them last year they were out of stock and the matter then seemed to be forgotten about. I’m sure this must mean that there are other houses without them - not least because when I went out to put mine away after the bin men had been on Friday, I discovered it was gone! Obviously put back somewhere else by the bin men or picked up by someone else who thought it was theirs.
The Council needs to cut rubbish going to land fill. Is there some environmentally friendly way they can remind residents moving in to the new houses that they can ring up and request their free bin? Reluctant to suggest a flyer through the doors but it may be worth while to encourage more use of the recycling boxes.

Hi RW10,
Thanks for joining in
Tesco Trolleys
In my experience the supermarkets aren’t too quick to respond to these problems!
I had to bother Asda every day for a week ot get them to collect from outside my old property
Interestingly enough, there’s an article here about a similar problem in South Wales where the residents organised a petition and Cardiff Council got involved.
The last paragraph of the article says:
A spokesman for Tesco said: "We are committed to being a good neighbour and we will organise for trolleys to be collected as soon as we are able. We do share the frustration of residents that a minority of people are taking private property away from the store only to end up dumping the trolleys in all sorts of places which can pose other issues as well creating an eyesore and inconveniencing all those involved in their retrieval."
If you’re coming to the Residents Association meeting on Friday, it would be the ideal place to bring it up; maybe we could either do the same or ask Quedgeley Parish Council for some help.
Green Recycling Boxes
Funny - they’d run out when we first moved here too!
I thought I’d posted the number to ring for these but can’t find it now

I did put a few relevant links in this post (and comments) for local recycling information.
I can’t understand why they aren’t issued to every house without having to be asked.
I also thought the developers were including these details in their "e;welcome packs"e;; maybe it was just Bryant!
This is another thing the Residents Association can help with I think… We are planning to issue a newsletter soon (distributing to all of Kingsway) so we could include an article about it in there. Failing that we could add it to our next "leaflet drop"… Something else it would be worthwhile bringing up on Friday.
If you can’t make the meeting I’ll try to remember to bring it up… but I’m old and my memory sucks, (and it’s way too late at night to start making notes - lol) so don’t expect too much!

Why dont Tesco follow Morrissons policy and charge a pound for the trolley only returned when the trolley is returned?
Regarding recycling boxes, I thought there was a global shortage of recycling boxes.

Global shortage
nice one!
The idea of charging is also discussed in that article I linked, seems like a good idea to me!

Interesting, yesterday around 5pm a Land Rover with a trailer on the back was going around the estate collecting Tesco trolleys! Someone has listened!!
